Session Design with David Selini

Updated: Dec 22, 2022

We were recently joined on the MSC Podcast by IFK Värnamo assistant coach, David Selini. Working at the top tier in Sweden, David caught our attention with some posts on social media this season where he not only shared exercises, but also explained the context behind each one and how it related to the game model at the club. Overall we discuss five exercises with David and each one has a different twist, either with organization or detail, that we feel can spark conversation or imagination amongst any group of coaches. Below is a picture of the first exercise that we discuss, centered looping decision making into unopposed exercises.

We have two options to watch this interview. The first option, below, is a 'highlight reel' which basically includes all the discussions with David that are supplemented by video clips from his training sessions. This is approximately 20 minutes long. If you enjoy it, please subscribe to our YouTube page so you do not miss the next one.

If you would like to watch the full interview, it's available below. This video contains all the discussions about the environment at IFK Värnamo, how David works alongside the head coach, plus the thinking and inspiration behind the exercises.
