Coaching Rest Defense: When, Where and How?
Rest defense has become an increasingly important part of the modern game, but is there a danger that coaches become too focused on creating the perfect structure too early? In this new MSC video, we look at examples from Brighton and Croatia to explore how teams move into common 2-3 and 3-2 structures as possession progresses. Rather than simply positioning players behind the ball, the focus is on understanding when that structure should appear, how it can support the attack, and how it can provide the platform to counter-press immediately after possession is lost.
