Chris Hughton Live Interview

On Friday, we teamed up North American Irish Coaches again to interview Tottenham and Republic of Ireland player and Premier League manager, Chris Hughton. I've always admired Chris' leadership style, but didn't quite appreciate the range of his experience until I did the research for this interview. As well as playing under some really successful managers, Chris worked as an assistant coach for seven different managers including Kevin Keegan and Glenn Hoddle. I was also fascinated by how he successfully dealt with one of the toughest challenges in management, in my opinion: getting relegated with a team and then taking them straight back up the next season. To do that with a Newcastle United team that had so much internal unrest with big name players wanting to leave, was something that I was excited to hear his insight on. This interview is a masterclass in the different facets required in management: appreciation of systems and players, managing upwards in the modern game, collaboration with staff, and dealing with the pressure that goes along with Premier League management.
